COVID-19 and Our Church

Updates from Church Leadership

Church Opening Update
Dear Church Family:

As we mentioned back in July, the Board would meet throughout the summer months to further discuss a church reopening plan for worship services in the Fall.  The Board had decided in July that we were not yet ready to reopen the church for worship services, but that we would work towards a plan for doing so.  Since then, we have returned church staff to the church on a regular basis and smaller groups such as youth and bible studies have started using the church building.

We thank you for your patience and we thank you for your prayers in this matter; we know many of you have been praying for us as a Leadership Board.  We understand that some of you are really eager and ready to meet and worship face to face.  We also understand that some of you still feel more comfortable viewing the online service as a family or as a small group.
We are currently planning to reopen the church for in-person worship services on Sunday, November 1st.  We are also planning to transition from a pre-recorded service to a live-streamed service.   In order for us to offer live streamed services, we have to improve our live streaming by upgrading our hardware, software and internet and this takes time.   We also need volunteers – we need help with participation in the services, help in the form of Tech teams as well as help with the music.  If you are willing to help out to make this November 1st date a success, please let us know as soon as possible.  The details on how to participate in the in-person service will be sent out as we get closer to the Nov 1st date.

Another matter we are addressing right now is the Annual General Meeting.  As you know, due to the emergency order in place, we postponed this Annual General Meeting from its original planned date in June.  The latest information released from the Ontario government requires us now to have our meeting prior to December 31st.   We fully anticipate that this meeting will be a hybrid meeting, both in person and virtual.  Our constitution allows us to establish quorum by in person and electronic means, however voting must be done in person or by proxy for those who attend virtually or those who cannot attend at all.  We would ask that when this date is set for the annual general meeting, that you make every effort to attend either in person or virtually.  We value your input as members and we want to successfully take care of church business as well as retain our incorporation and charitable status.

Again, we thank you for your patience and for all your prayers in this matter.  We know God is still at work through this challenging time and we will continue to trust that He will guide us through this.
If you have any questions, concerns or comments, please feel free to contact any one of the MHBC Board Members.

Sincerely,

The Board at MHBC

Because of Christ Jesus,

Elders and Church Leadership of Maple Hill

March 16, 2020

Hi Everyone,

Greetings in the name of Christ our King!

Maple Hill will be suspending all programs/events and services starting March 16th until April 5th tentatively, as the church building will be closed for use except for food pantry.

Services will be live streamed only, as we do our part to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

Please remember the church body can still serve and worship wherever they are.  During this time, remember to be Christ’s hands and feet and take care of others as needed.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email:

Kim, Church Administrator – office@maplehillbaptist.org

Pastor Mike – pastormike@maplehillbaptist.org

Sarah, Children and Youth –  youth@maplehillbaptist.org

If you have any needs we can help with, please let us know and we will do what we can to help.

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:16-18)

Because of Christ Jesus,

Elders and Church Leadership of Maple Hill

March 13, 2020

Dear Church Family,

Greetings in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

In the midst of COVID-19, we face many challenges. Please be in prayer for those infected and for the
spread of this disease to be limited or cease. Pray also for your brothers and sisters in the Lord serving
in high risk areas. Help those in need; be Christ’s hands and feet.

Church services will resume as per normal and if anything changes we will send out notifications by
email, Facebook and on our webpage.

As a precaution:

Stay educated: Stay knowledgeable on the disease through credible sites.
https://www.york.ca/wps/portal/yorkhome/health/yr/infectiousdiseasesandprevention/covid19

Stay home if: you have recently travelled, are feeling unwell with cold or flu-like symptoms, or have a compromised immune system. Our service stream begins Sundays at 10 a.m.

Stay clean: We ask that you limit your physical contact at church and keep your hands clean. Bring your
own hand sanitizer in case of a shortage at church.

As a Christian:
We have a responsibility as Christians to live wisely during this time, please consider 1 Timothy 1:7,

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

We do not fear, but we can still use wisdom to prevent this disease from spreading further.
