Children’s Ministry

Our children’s ministry is made up of multiple programs where every child is welcome. We provide safe, age-appropriate environments for children with the goal of creating passionate followers of Jesus Christ in the new generation.

Little Explorers Play Group

Families with children from birth to six years old are welcome to join us Thursdays from 9 to 11 a.m. for play group.

One Thursday of each month we meet at a park to play and explore (weather permitting) or have a special event. Stayed tuned for our next fun day out! Click here for this months calendar! If you would like to check out next month’s fun dates, click here!

Our nursery is for all infants and children under the age of 4. This program runs during our 10 a.m. Sunday service. Parent/caregivers are welcome to start signing in their children into the nursery after 9:50 a.m.

We use a vibrating pager system so that we can contact you during the service should any need arise. We ask parents/caregivers to sign each child in and to not enter the main play room of the nursery.

If your child is unwell, we do ask that you keep them with you during the morning service.

There is a changing table in our accessible main level washroom.

Nursery

Our children’s church (Shine) is for all children from Kindergarten to Grade 5. This program runs during our 10 a.m. Sunday service. Children are dismissed part way through the service and picked up after the service in our classroom downstairs. We use The Gospel Project Curriculum, which takes children on a Christ-centered chronological journey through the bible, from Genesis through to Revelation.

During children’s church, the children enjoy three 20-minute stations:

  1. Song, Prayer & Memory Verse

  2. Bible Lesson

  3. Crafts & Games

Meet Sarah

Sarah worked as a RECE in a child care setting before serving Maple Hill full time as of January of 2022. Sarah has served as Children and Youth Coordinator at Maple Hill Baptist Church since 2019, and leads our children, youth and family ministries.

Sarah started attending Maple Hill with her parents and siblings when she was three years old. Maple Hill is where Sarah first became a follower of Jesus Christ and has helped develop her passion for working with children, youth, and families.

In 2015, Sarah graduated with honours from Seneca College with a diploma in Early Childhood Education, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Development. She has been in good standing with the College of Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECE) since 2014, and is certified in Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C.

Safety is our priority. Our volunteers are required to keep an up-to-date enhanced police check with the church. If your child has an allergy or medical condition, please contact Sarah so that critical information can be shared with volunteers.
